The impact of all of the rain recently...

What a way to welcome Spring in this year, the past few weeks with all of the crazy amounts of rain we've gotten in Bucks County. Hopefully "April showers bring May flowers"... In the meantime, what does all this rain mean for the start of Irrigation Season? Well, here are a few things to think about...

Soil Moisture Levels:
The rain likely saturated the soil, increasing soil moisture levels significantly. Depending on the soil type and drainage characteristics, this could mean that the soil has sufficient moisture to sustain plant growth for a period of time without the need for irrigation.

Reduced Water Demand:
With ample soil moisture, plants may not require as much supplemental watering in the coming weeks.
This can result in a reduced demand for irrigation systems, especially in the early part of the irrigation season.

Enhanced Plant Health:
Adequate soil moisture from the recent rain can promote healthy plant growth and reduce stress on vegetation. Plants may benefit from the natural rainfall, resulting in lush foliage and vibrant blooms as the irrigation season progresses.

Monitoring and Adjustment:
Despite the recent rainfall, it's essential to monitor soil moisture levels and plant needs regularly.
If prolonged dry spells occur later in the season, irrigation may still be necessary to maintain optimal plant health. Irrigation schedules may need to be adjusted based on weather conditions and plant requirements.

Overall, the recent rainfall in Bucks County may impact the start and intensity of irrigation activities in April. However, it's essential for property owners and irrigation professionals to remain vigilant and adapt irrigation practices accordingly based on changing weather patterns and plant needs throughout the season.

So for now, take advantage of the fact that chances are your plants are most likely better off, but once the warmer and much hotter weather get here, your system should be in full swing!

Thanks for checking in as always, and have a great April!
